Parking:

Wednesday night program, David Isay of NPR’s oral history project:

If you are planning to attend the Wednesday night program at the Historic Asolo Theatre, please meet inside the Visitors’ Pavillion on the grounds of the Ringling Museum between 6:30 and 7:00pm.  Parking is available in the Asolo Theatre parking lot just across Bay Shore Road.  The large pink building within the parking lot is the new Asolo Theatre, our program is in the Historic Asolo Theatre (it is always confusing) located inside of the Visitors’ Pavillion. We have been going through some major rebuilding and entrance to the Museum is now through the Visitors’ Pavillion, directly behind the pink archway on Bay Shore Road.  Library staff will be in the lobby of the Visitors’ Pavillion to meet you, distribute tickets and direct you from there.

Directions to the Museum from the Hilton Garden Inn:

Turn right on Rt. 41(south), go approximately ¾ mile to the second stop light (University Parkway), turn right and go to the stop sign at Bay Shore Road. Turn left on Bay Shore Road and then a quick right into the south parking lot of the Museum.  Continue straight, towards the Bay and park in the Cà d’Zan lot.  The Thursday morning program will start from the Cà d’Zan terrace on the bay.

Thursday morning program:

Please park in the Cà d’Zan lot. If it is cool that morning, you may want to bring a light sweater or jacket. We are planning to have a light breakfast on the terrace, directly on Sarasota Bay and it can get breezy. In case of rain, we will meet in the library. Please be prompt, for an optimum experience, we are trying to complete the mansion tour before the museum begins receiving visitors shortly after a 10am opening.

Friday program and Ringling College of Art and Design

From the Hilton Garden Inn, take Tamiami Trail/Highway 41 south 2.5 miles to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd  (MLK) where it intersects Tamiami Trail.  There is a traffic light there, which is also where the cross street changes name from MLK Blvd on the east side to Indian Beach Drive on the west.  Turn east onto MLK Blvd.  (MLK Blvd is divided by a median.)  Immediately on your right is parking, adjacent to the sculpture garden.  There are also about eight marked visitor parking spaces which may have some availability  in the parking lot at the next curb cut.  Kimbrough Library is on the north side of MLK Blvd on the pedestrian side of campus.  When you enter the plaza, the Library is on your left.

Hello: Are there any group transportation options for the Artwalk ? If we drive to the Artwalk where is the best parking?

    Thanks!

Hi, Courtenay, I’m sure that some people will be getting together for dinner and the artwalk that evening. It might be a good idea to have a sign-up sheet at the registration desk for carpooling.

If you drive, parking will be somewhat a challenge. Palm Avenue is open, but chances of finding a spot would be slim during the gallery walk. Try Main Street or the neighboring streets (McAnsh Square, Mira Mar Court, South Pineapple Ave) where some free street parking should be available. If all else fails, there is a free public parking garage at Whole Foods on 1st St.
